Dr. Coni Kalinowski is a board certified psychiatrist with expertise in community services for people with psychiatric and intellectual disabilities.
After residency training, she served as medical director of the mobile community treatment team at the mental health center in Dane County in Madison, Wisconsin, was medical director at the Stanislaus Integrated Services Agency in Modesto, California, and served on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin and University of California, San Francisco.
Her clinical work encompasses community-based psychosocial rehabilitation, client-directed services, integrated services models and culturally proficient approaches to care.
Since 1999 Dr. Kalinowski has specialized in treating people with both intellectual disabilities and psychiatric or behavioral concerns. She is a consultant for Columbus Medical Services and developed a dual diagnosis curriculum for case managers and residential providers for the treatment of psychiatric conditions in people having developmental disabilities.
She is on the clinical faculty of the University of Nevada School of Medicine and medical director of Mojave Adult, Child, and Family Services, where she leads the dual diagnosis clinic for people with intellectual disabilities. She is psychiatric consultant to Desert Regional Center in Las Vegas.
Dr. Kalinowski is author of a number of articles and training manuals on psychopharmacology, dual diagnosis, psychosocial rehabilitation, client-directed services, and power dynamics in mental health services.
